Brown Bag Lunch with Pawel Pelczar

Animal Transgenic Technologies in the Era of Genome Engineering

The brown bag lunch by Dr. Pawel Pelczar (Head of Center for Transgenic Models, CTM, University of Basel) on "Animal Transgenic Technologies in the Era of Genome Engineering"  will take place on 12 May 2022 from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in KOL-E-13

Moderation: Prof. Dr. Gerald Schwank (University of Zurich)

Genetically modified animals play a vital role in biomedical research. They often help us to understand complex biological phenomena or serve as disease models. CRISPR/Cas9 and other recently developed genome engineering techniques have greatly simplified the transgenesis process and thus increased our capacity to rapidly generate genetically modified organisms. In my talk on May 12th, I will summarize the advances in the field of animal genome engineering as well as address technical and ethical challenges created by these new technologies.
